Two defeats on the spin for Curran
Newry ended Curran’s winning start to the season with a four-shot victory in the preliminary round of the Joyce Kavanagh Trophyon Wednesday (May 21). S. Greer, S. McDermott, J. Spiers and L. Simms posted a three-shot winning return, only for E. Miller, E. Magill, R. Gallagher and V. Noble to lose out by seven.
On Thursday (May 22) Curran lost their first home league game of 2014 to old rivals Dromore.
Joyce Spiers’ rink lost 18-15, while Lynda Simms quartet were edged out 32-30.
Result: Curran LBC 31 (1 pt) v Dromore 32 (4 pts.). On Thursday (May 29) Curran host Gilnahirk LBC.
