Success for Damhead Primary School family

Damhead Primary School pupils, Molly and Tom Curry gained success in the Irish Minor Schools swimming finals in Galway on March 9th.

This competition is for children throughout Ireland from P5 to first year in secondary schools.

Molly, who coming into the event was ranked sixth in the P7- 50 metre Breaststroke event, swam a personal best to come through the heats and qualify for the final. She swam extremely well in her final to set another personal best and win an Irish Schools bronze medal for Damhead.

Tom, her younger brother, was also ranked sixth coming into the P5 – 50 metre Breaststroke event, and he took a second off his personal best to qualify through the heats in third place for the final. However despite taking a further 0.7 seconds off his heat time in the breaststroke final, he could not quite hold onto his third place and was narrowly pipped to fourth place in the final.

Both children swim in Coleraine Amateur Swimming Club and thanks go to all the coaches who have helped them with their success to date.
