Strollers march on

IN the City Cup, Claudy Rovers hosted Maghera Strollers and gave a really good account of themselves before losing narrowly 2-1, on Saturday.

Paddy Hargan’s goal caused League leaders Maghera a scare but goals from Mark O’Donnell and the prolific Gazza Doherty saw Maghera into the next round.

The Supplementary Cup quarter final between Lincoln Courts Reserves and Greysteel went to penalties, after Glen McIntosh and Peter Gibson’s goals for Lincoln Courts Reserves were matched by strikes from O’Connor and McGuiness for Greysteel Reserves. The dreaded shoot-out saw Greysteel come out on top 3-2.

All but one of the Premier Division games were drawn. Lincoln Courts were the only victors winning the big Waterside derby 2-1 over BBOB. A much improved BBOB scored from in form, Alan Duddy however Kolyn Patterson saw his side victorious.

Another Eight goals shared and Ballykelly missed the chance to go top as they drew with improving Foyle Wanderers. Breffni King, Gary Brady and a Ryan Twist brace for Ballykelly. Irish Street and Donemana Reserves scored five each in the top of the table clash. Steven Blair’s two goals, Mark McKittick, Jordan Watson and Stuart Smallwoods for The Street. Kyle Dougherty double, Dean Milligan, Andy McBrine and Stephen Hethrington netting for Donemana. Churchill took advantage of this draw and Roe Rovers Reserves having no game to go to the top of the table.

In their new strip they produced an impressive 5-1 win over Artigarvan. TJ Nichol was again on target for the visitors but Cathal O’Kane, Jarlath Canning, Ryan Simpson, Steve Donnell and Niall Johnston all christened the new kit with goals.

BBOB Reserves and Craig Riddles solitary strike was enough to give them a 1-0 victory over Glendermott. Dungiven Celtic Thirds won the final game of the day 3-1 thanks to a double from Anton O’Hara and a Barry Leake goal.
