Schools tussle for North Antrim camogie title

TEAMS from local primary schools contested the North Antrim Cumann na mBunscol camogie title sponsored by Alianz. There were fantastic camogie skills on display from all teams. All games played in a fantastic spirit and the children from all the schools thoroughly enjoyed their day of sport.

The competition was played on a league basis and the very deserving winners of the A section were St Brigid’s Cloughmills and Gaelscoil an Chaisil won the B section.

Well done to both St Brigid’s Cloughmills and Gaelscoil an Chaistil. Thank you to all who came to participate and make the day so enjoyable. Thank you to Cushendall for hosting this competition. Cumann na mBunscol would also like to send a special thanks to Allianz for their sponsorship this year. The organisers were Helen Magee and Fiona McNaughton.

Two competitions ran simultaneously on the day, the ‘A’ tournament which was the Cumann na Bunscoil finals, and the ‘B’ tournament which was the ‘9 Glens Challenge’ for smaller schools.

Special Guest referees Mark Donaghy and Sambo McNaughton officiated the tournaments.

Ciara Laverty from St Patrick’s in Loughguile won the player of competition, playing from midfield, and also claimed the plaudits as top scorer in a very competitive tournament.

In the ‘9 Glens Challenge’, Gaelscoil an Chaistil came away the victors with Glenann Primary School finishing a close second.
