The South Armagh side added one more point from play late into the first half but with a last minute Thomas McAlinden goal, set up by Declan Breen the half time score showed Killeavy 0-6 Sarsfields 1-9. Killeavy certainly were not put off with their slower first half performance by scoring five points in the opening ten minutes of the second before Sarsfields managed one point from Paul McGeown, who was the only Hoops man to score in the second half.

Killeavy’s goalkeeper denied two goals from Thomas McAlinden and Eamon McGeown, and with a goal scored later in the second half, the home team found themselves ahead 1-13 to 1-11 with ten minutes left.

The last five minutes proved tense, with Paul McGeown scoring another goal putting Sarsfields ahead, but quickly Killeavy countered to finish two points ahead late into extra time.
