Potters A record important win over Sperrin

The top match in the Tennent’s Coleraine and District Pool League last week was the clash between Sperrin and Potters A.

It was a real topsy turvy affair with the league leaders, Potters A, eventually winning 11-8. They won the first session 3-2 before Sperrin hit back to win the second by the same margin. The hosts took the next two frames to go 7-5 up and were looking good for the win, but their luck was about to change as Lee Caulfield unfortunately potted the black halfway through his game with Marc Hutchinson.

Corey Sweeney and Ady Toner won the next two to put the Potters 8-7 ahead. But Caulfield tied things up again by beating Sweeney in the next. The visitors though stepped up to the plate again with Man of the Match Hutchinson, Darryl Watt and Clem Howard all winning to seal the points.

The final session was another 3-2 finish this time to Arthur McMullan’s men, which included a massive fluke by Arthur to tie the game at 10-10 and set up a play-off. Instead it gave Keith the chance to take the win, which he duly accepted. Racks A were awarded a win as Mary Pats were unable to field a team.
