Paul secures the top player award

PAUL Lenfesty secured the Player of the Year award on Monday night in the Taylors Ice Cream Lisburn and District Snooker League.

Paul made it an impressive 18 wins from 21 matches this week, playing off a handicap of -42, Paul deserves his title for his excellent consistent play throughout the season.

The Legends were hosts to Legion Hotshots this week, Paul Lenfesty was first up for the home side and he beat C Watson 2-0 thanks to a fine break of 62.

D Hill then made it 2-0 for the Legends with a comfortable 2-0 win against T Heasley while Chris Lenfesty just beat Cathy Pegg on the black to put the Legends 3-0 up. Last up for the Legends was J Payne but M Doyle came out on top to leave the final score 3-1 to the Legends.

Coach Highwaymen are only one point behind the Legends at the top of the table. They took on Colours Ballymacash A but left Lisburn full of frustration as they drew 2-2.

First up for Colours A was A Clarke who defeated G Boomer 2-0 to put the home side ahead. It was quickly 2-0 as C Stewart demolished C Mitchel 2-0 and it was looking a terrible night for the Highwaymen, but D Tate pulled one back with a narrow win against R Stevenson. The draw as secured when Highwaymen captain C Patterson won 2-1 against I Stevenson.

The form team at the moment are Glenside who still have two cup finals to play. They were hard to beat again on Monday night as they defeated Coach A 4-0.

C Carlise got the team going with a 2-0 win over J McGory and this was quickly followed up by fellow team mate Charlie who defeated G Docherty 2-1. D Morrison then won 2-0 as the Glenside were looking increasingly comfortable as they took a 3-0 lead and with only one game to play involving J Loyal against D McFaul it was the Glenside player who would end up the victor as Jason won 2-1 to seal a very well deserved whitewash for the Glenside who stay third in the league.

The Coach Knights took on Lisburn side Colours Ballymacash B and won 3-1 to stay fourth in the table behind Glenside. D McCambridge beat P Stevenson 2-1 to get the team off to a good start and was followed up by captain of the Knights J McCrea who narrowly defeated B J McGrillen 2-1. T Taylor did not have his best night losing 2-0 against R McCaughran and it was up to D Hall to complete the win as he defeated C Emerson 2-1 and end the match 3-1 to the Knights.

The Coach QS were up against the Coach Outlaws on Monday night and the match finished 2-2. S Nixon defeated M Magee 2-0, J Marmion then made it 2-0 with a 2-1 victory over A Spence to put the Outlaws under pressure, however K Lavery defeated QS captain J Moreland 2-1 to pull one back for the Outlaws. S Lynch was defeated 2-0 by the young C Ferguson to end the match in a stalemate 2-2.

Coach Grinders faced East Down Bandits and the match was to finish with both teams sharing the points at 2-2.

F Soye was beaten 2-0 by D Morgan and his team mate G McKeown also lost out to W Townsley 2-0. G Wolfe pulled one back with a 2-0 win over G Townsley and the match was squared when J Lenfesty had a good 2-1 win over M Cavanagh.
