Páirc MacUílín officially opened in 2007, the centenary year of McQuillan GAC Ballycastle, with GAA President Nickey Brennan, newly installed Ulster President Tom Daly and Antrim chairman Dr John McSparron in attendance. The first match was a friendly between the home side and Kilkenny club James Stephens.

The Ballycastle Club have won ‘Best Club Ground in Antrim’ on one previous occasion in 2012 when they were also honoured with the overall Ulster Club Ground of the Year award.

The Ulster GAA President’s Awards are a way of highlighting the achievements of special and significant contributors to the Association in Ulster.

A special mention of thanks must to go to Cathal Donnelly who does such a fantastic job of maintaining the grounds throughout the whole year ensuring McQuillans GAC continue to have top class facilities for their teams.

Páirc MacUílín is also the current home for the Antrim Senior Hurling team in 2016, having hosted inter county fixtures since 2014.
