Nutts Corner season concludes this Sunday

A somewhat depleted entry of just 6 GP 2 Lightning Rods gridded for the Stadium Championship Final at Nutts Corner, a busy schedule of events in the recent weeks contributing greatly to the low car count however quality outweighed quantity.

Nigel Doherty took full advantage of his pole position start to set the early pace with Jason Clyde and Daniel Rodgers in pursuit. As the race continued it became clear it was going to be a four way fight with Doherty, Clyde, Freddie Fleck and Rodgers all bumper to bumper. With 5 laps to go a scrap between Fleck & Clyde allowed Rodgers to move through to second and challenge Doherty’s lead. At the flag it was Doherty from Rodgers who was penalised 2 positions by the race steward for contact, this promoted Fleck to runner up with Clyde third. In the support races Rodgers and Clyde both enjoyed wins.

As has become the case all season long the young Junior drivers were out in force with a mammoth entry of 18 cars on track for the annual Stadium Championship. Antony Kincaid the recently crowned Irish Champion started from pole position with the rapid Jack Kennedy along side. At the green flag Kincaid got away clean with Kennedy and Matthew Drysdale in tow. Kincaid dominated proceedings after the restart eventually completing the distance to take the win ahead of Matthew Drysdale and Matt Milliken who just nipped ahead of Cole McFall.

A disappointing showing of only 5 F2 Stock Cars took to the track in heat one consisting of Paul Crooks, Martin Conlon, Gordy Mckee fresh from a final win at Ballymena Raceway last weekend, Conor Hughes and Chris Kincaid. Hughes was the cream of the crop leaving the rest in his dust to take the heat one win. Heat 2 saw only 4 cars in action, with Hughes recording another win. Gordy McKee set the early pace in the meeting final but this was to be short-lived, with Conor Hughes blasting through to take his third victory of the night.

Our final fixture of the 2015 season takes place on Sunday 11th of October from 2pm featuring BriSCA F2 Stock Cars- (2015 G/N Championship Final), 2L Saloon Stock Cars, 1300 Stock Cars (2015 Irish Closed Championship), Euro Stocks (2015 NCR Stadium Championship), Junior Rods and Micro F2s.
