Footballer’s seven-goal final haul celebrated

A young footballer’s remarkable scoring feat was hitting the headlines in Carrick during June 1985.

Jonathan McClay (10) was the star of Victoria Primary School’s football team, notching seven goals in his side’s 9-0 win over Central Primary School in the final of the Carrickfergus area junior shield.
