More silverware for U19s

Coach Bob Cameron said: “This was one of the most pleasing performances of the year, full of pride and passion against a top side. Three trophies in one season, including being Ulster champions, is a fantastic performance for this small club and the squad can be immensely proud. Now we’re looking forward to the Carrick Sevens and hopefull adding to that tally!”

After a long, hard season the Glynn lads were down to the bare bones, arriving with just 15 players with some of the squad either injured or unavailabile, including star man, Jordan Burns.

They needed a committed passionate performance and that’s what they delivered. Right from the outset there was a desire to perform for their club and their team-mates, giving no quarter in a hard-fought first half. Malone played some great rugby but Larne matched them all the way both in defence and attack.

The back row of McAllister, Campbell and Jamison were outstanding and continually turned over ball to thwart Malone attacks, while half-backs Anton White and Philip Andrews played the perfect tactical game to keep Malone on the back foot.

Larne scored the only points of the first half through the trusty boot of Philip Andrews to edge into a 3-0 lead.

The first score in the second half was always going to be decisive and when Andrews again put Larne in an attacking position McAllister crashed over the line for a trademark try after great work from the pack.

Jamison and Campbell combined again from the restart and showed the Glynn men’s intent, with White and Andrews keeping the pressure on.

The game-changing moment came when Anton White took a quick tap from a penalty and raced in under the posts to make it 13 – 0. Andrews added the conversion and Larne never looked back. Man of the match White added a drop-goal to cap a magnificent display and seal victory.
