Maxol link up as mini rugby sponsor in the province

Leading forecourt convenience retailer Maxol is the new official sponsor of Ulster Mini Rugby and the first Mini Rugby Festival supported by Maxol took place in Limavady Rugby Club on Saturday 30th November.

The two year sponsorship deal until 2015 includes 32 Mini Rugby Festivals which are expected to involve more than 4,000 children from over 44 local rugby clubs and 200 rugby-playing primary schools across Ulster.

It marks a major investment by The Maxol Group in local sport across the region and is an ideal fit with the brand, reinforcing its brand ethos ‘at the heart of’ local communities across Northern Ireland.

Speaking following the Limavady Mini Rugby Festival, Brian Donaldson, Chief Operating Officer of The Maxol Group, said they were committed to supporting grassroots rugby throughout the province:

“We were delighted to welcome so many young rugby players to the first Mini Rugby Festival supported by Maxol,” he said.

“Our sponsorship with Ulster Mini Rugby really demonstrates our commitment to grassroots rugby and helps us deliver on our brand position to be ‘at the heart of it’ across all of the local communities in Ulster.”

Mini Rugby is the introductory level of the sport throughout Ulster in which boys and girls aged 6-12 gain their first taste of the sport and begin to learn the basic skills.

Both Ballymoney and Coleraine Rugby Clubs had mini teams there on the day and the met up with Ulster players Bronson Ross and Ian Henderson to complete a fantastic event for the young players.
