Latharna on cue as they get the better of Q-Club

Larne and District Snooker League: Latharna had the biggest win of the week with a convincing 4-1 away victory at Q-Club ‘A’.

Gavin Carmichael, Raymond Weir, Billy Millar and George McGregor were all on target for the Point Street men, with Michael Kane taking a frame for the Snooker Club.

The result puts them a point behind leaders St Comgall’s, who could only get a 3-2 win at home against bottom side Q-Club B. Gary Johnston (35), Shaun McAlister and Anthony McCorry (35, 29) won for the Saints with Q-Club B’s Craig Johnston and Stuart Hood pocketing frames for their side.

Ballyclare ‘A’ kept the pressure on the top two thanks to a 4-1 success over neighbours, Linfield. Tommy Bamber, S. Higgins, Darren Agnew (41) and David Lyness with a break of 57 won for the golfers, with Billy Parke winning the only frame for the Blues.

The Point recorded their 13th win of the campaign with a 3-2 success against Carrick Golf Club ‘B’. Steven Girvan was in good form with breaks of 28, 24 and 20 in his win. Aaron McKee and Gary McNeill also won, with Tommy Bond and Colin Spence responding for the visitors.

Paul Wylie, Darren McNeill and James Magill took the first three frames in their win over St John’s. Douggie Long and Andy Reid won for the Mill Brae men.

Carrick ‘A’ defeated neighbours Greenbank ‘A’ with frames from Ken Knocker, Ricky Bradley and Stevie McLoughlin helping them to a 3-2 win. Wayne Harper and David Johnston provided the Greenbank response.

Elsewhere, Ballyclare ‘B’ bagged a 3-2 victory over Ballyclare Old Boys.

Outstanding matches must be played before the next meeting.
