In-form Street march on

AN in-form Hill Street won 4-1 against local rivals Donacloney in the first round of the Junior Cup on Saturday at Lurgan Park.

It was the visitors who made a shock start when they took the lead in just the second minute.

Street were awarded a penalty in the 10th minute when Matt Irvine was brought down inside the 18 yard box, but captain Greig Stewart's kick was saved.

Paul Mercer hit the bar for the Lurgan side and then minutes later ex-Street player Lance Watson gave away a penalty and was sent off. Paul Mercer stepped up an made it 1-1 just before the break.

The second half was a much better for Hill Street and on 50 minutes Paul Mercer headed home at the back post.

After 70 minutes gone and Mercer whipped the ball in from a corner and the Cloney keeper pushed the ball into the back of his own net.

Street were now piling the pressure on the Cloney defence and in the 90th minute subtitute Simon Freeburn crossed a low ball into the six yard box for Matt Irvine to wrap the game up at 4-1.
