Whitehead gears up for annual Open Week of Golf

Hot on the heels of John-Ross Galbraith’s magnificent Irish Close Championship win, Whitehead Golf Club’s annual Open Week of Golf tees off on Saturday (June 28).

The event comprises of a week of varying golfing competitions for both men and women.

The action begins on with a Men’s Open Stableford on Saturday before an Open Mixed Greensomes and a Men’s Open Greensomes event the following day.

There are two competitions on Monday (June 30), the Men’s Seniors Stableford (55 yrs +) and the Men’s Stableford.

The Ladies’ Open Category Stableford is set to take place on Tuesday (July 1), followed by the Men’s Open Stableford the following day. A Men’s Open Fourball Betterball is scheduled for Friday, while the Men’s ‘McFerran Cup’ Open Stroke on the final day.

Nearest the pin prizes and a hole-in-one prize are available every day.

All competitions for the week have been sponsored by Northern Ireland-based businesses and the week is supported by Carrickfergus Borough Council.

Whitehead’s Club Captain, Mr Jim McAllister, thanked all the sponsors for their generous contribution to the event.

The club is encouraging as many visitors as possible to play in their Open Week. The entry fee for visitors is £10 on Saturdays and Wednesday, and £8 on any other day. Bookings can be made with club professional, Colin Farr, on 028 93 370820.
