Neil wins by a point at Silverwood

The winner with 43 points was Neil McAlinden who had a great front nine of one over with one birdie, two bogeys, and six pars for 23 points.

His back nine of four over included one birdie, four pars, three bogeys, and one double bogey for 20 points.

In second place with 42 points was Jerry Curran. He recorded a front nine of two over par for 20 points which included one birdie, five pars and three bogeys. His back nine of 22 points contained two birdies, five pars, one bogey, and one double bogey.

Third with 42 points was Colin Quinn, he had 21 points on his front nine with one birdie, six pars, one bogey and one double bogey. The back nine again had 21 points and this included two birdies, three pars, and four bogeys.

Fourth place went to Damien McCready with 41 points, fifth was Stephen Thompson with 41 points.

The gross prize was won by Fintan McAreavey who is playing unbelievable golf at the minute with another sub-par round of golf. This time his gross 69 three under par included a front nine of two under contained two birdies and seven pars, and his back nine two birdies, one bogey and six pars.

The seniors prize was won by Finbar Headley with 41 points.

The previous Saturday it was a monthly medal and the winner with a nett 65 was Daryl Patton.

He had a front nine of 40 with five pars, three bogeys a one double bogey, his back nine had 44 strokes with four pars, three bogeys and two double bogeys to win by one shot.

Second with a nett 66 was Gerald Totton, Gerald had a front nine of 43 with three pars, four bogeys and two double bogeys. His back nine of 45 included four pars, two bogeys and three double bogeys for his total of 88.

Third with a nett 66 was James scullion, his front nine of 38 contained six pars and three bogeys and a back nine of 43 shots included one birdie, four pars two bogeys, one double bogey and one triple bogey.

The gross prize was won again by Fintan McAreavey with a level par 72. Fintan had a one over front nine with two birdies, five pars one bogey and one double bogey, his back nine of one under contained two birdies, one bogey and six pars.

Fourth prize was won by Shane Mulholland with and nett 67.

Fifth prize was collected by James Noble with an excellent level par round 72.

The senior prize went to Francis Kelly with a nett 67.

Sections prizes: 0-12 Paul Toman nett 68; 13-18 Bill Geoghegan nett 67; 19-28 Philip Colvin nett 70. The junior prize was won by Conor McCabrey with 43.

The Seniors had a recent outing at a Armagh last Wednesday and put up a creditable performance.

On the day the team finished sixth from the ten clubs and had the distinction of having the overall best scoring pair. This was Francie Kelly and Brian Brady, who playing off three-quarter handicap managed a very impressive 41 points. The other counting scores came from the pairing of John Clarke, Joe Kelly with 38 points and Seamus Patton, Neil Walker with 35 points. The total of 114 keeps Silverwood in the middle of the table and with their own venue to play there is a real optimism of them finishing in their best ever position.
