High scoring in second week of Rockmount Winter League

WEEK two of the 2012/2013 Andrew Annett Winter League competition at Rockmount Golf Club was even better than the first week’s scoring. In week one the winning score was 35 points or eleven under par (nett) for twelve holes; two players surpassed 35 points this week and one equalled the same score.

Michael Finneran (22) had scores of; one three, eight fours and three fives on his card for a two over par total of 50 or converted to stableford points he had 37 points. In second place with 36 points was Colin McClelland (18), Colin had three birdies in the first four holes, four birdies in the first six holes and five birdies after eight holes. Colin’s gross score was a level par 48 shots.

In third place was Russell Jamison (20) with 35 points. With 34 points in fourth place was John Cahoon (15) beating Harry Parkinson (16) into fifth on a better back six. Richard Armstrong (22) was sixth with 33 points.

The handicap secretaries will have multiple winter league handicap cuts to make after this week as one hundred and six players scored or bettered 25 points. Andrew Mulholland (6) had the best gross on the day his two under par 46 was matched by Alan McClune (8) but Andrew’s better back six secured him the prize. All will receive Paul Banford & Sons Butchers, Turkey Vouchers. After week four the team scores will be published.
