GUI fees due at Foyle Golf Club

With eight cards returned in the Pitchers Spring League at Foyle and with the best six cards from ten counting the teams are now dropping their lowest scores and this is having a significant effect on the competition for the top eight places in the match play section of the league.

Team Eight of Mark Doherty, Ciaran O’Doherty, John Jennings and Dermott Harkin still lead the qualifying by a slender two point margin over Team Five with two more cards to play there is still sixteen teams in with a chance of making the to eight places.

The entries for the Rankin Machine Tool Services sponsored Foursomes Club Championship are now being taken with the closing date for entering Monday, March 31 with the match play draw posted on Friday, April 4, see poster and enter at golf reception.

The new competition season got underway at Foyle with the Pitchers sponsored St Patricks Day Open Stableford.

The 125 competitors had to contend with very strong winds making scoring difficult, but 11 handicapper David Knox made light of the difficult playing conditions to post an excellent winning score of 39 points.

His playing partner Stuart Gauld (11) took the runners up spot with 38 points, Hugh Doherty (12) finished third with a very commendable 37 points.

The gross prize went to Stephen Martin after he scored 34 points, John Jennings (10) with 22 points claimed the back nine.

While Foyle members are reminded that Club Subscriptions which includes GUI Fees are now due and must be payed before April 1st so as to enable members to play in Club competitions and maintain their GUI Handicap, optional insurance is also due and should be payed by the same date.
