Fundraising Gala Day proves to be a huge success at Banbridge GC

It was Fundraising Gala Day at Banbridge Golf Club last Friday. The event proved to be a lot of fun and all the players enjoyed the day.

There could, of course, have been a few more teams but the organisers were well satisfied.

The winners, with a superb score of 101 points, were Paul Magennis, Brendan McConville and his son Gary and visitor, Jeffrey Robinson.

Runners-up, with 94 points, were club captain, Noel McSherry, Bill McCandless, Gary McCormick and Roland Harwood.

In third place, also with 94 points, were Gerry McBrien, Eamon Galloway, Paddy and Terry Malcolmson.

In fourth place, with 93 points, were Dominic Quinn, Kenny Jones, Michael Robinson and Tom Fee.

The winning ladies were the lady captain, Denise McBrien, Ann Magennis, Fionuala Crossey and Mildred Hodgett.

Damian Weir won the prize for nearest the hole on the 15th by hitting his tee-shot into 16 inches from the stick.

All the players would like to thank the fundraising committee for all the effort they put into organising the event.

Sweep Results

Sunday 17th August - The big question being asked before this sweep got under way was, “Could anyone get a two?” There was a massive rollover and only one chance, at the par 3 eighth hole.

As luck would have it, there was only one 2 on the day and the lucky player was Alex Clarke. The amount he won will go a long way towards paying for his new driver. Well done, Alex!

1st- Adrian McEvoy (16) Nett 33.

2nd- Paul Doherty (22) Nett 33.

Monday 18th August - Philip Mallon played the 14 holes of the Monday Sweep in one over par gross which was good enough to win the competition by one point. It was a rewarding day too for Bertie Shaw who had the only 2 of the day.

1st- Philip Mallon (10) 35 points, 2nd- Ryan dodds (15) 34 points, 3rd- Paul Faulkner (14) 34 points.
