Family fun at Down Royal

A NEW door opened at Down Royal Park Golf Course on Saturday May 4 when the club hosted their first free Family Fun Day and also celebrated the official opening of their new Pitch and Putt course.

The day began with a free round of Pitch and Putt for all attendees. The weather held well for the event and just under 200 people tried out the new course. A sea of excited children enjoyed the further entertainment provided including; inflatables, a magic show and disco, face painting and balloon modelling.

Support was also shown by the Mayor of Lisburn and the Fire Service and was much appreciated. The event was so successful that staff at Down Royal plan to run similar events in the future.

On the 9th hole of the Pitch and Putt all attendees were met by Gary Wardlow, the on-site Golf Pro. He put them to the test in their aim and accuracy. This gave many of the children a chance to meet the coach that will be guiding them through the Junior Ireland Golf Academy and Summer Schemes to be held at Down Royal Park.

The new addition of the Pitch and Putt to the existing 18 hole and 9 hole course at Down Royal Park enables the younger golfer to play, learn and progress. The course is suitable for all ages and abilities and also offers the opportunity for families to have fun, keep fit and spend quality time together. The Pitch and Putt facility is ideal for larger groups, schools and community groups looking to try something different and learn the game of golf.

One of the attributes of Down Royal Park Golf Course is that all three of their golf courses are open seven days a week to visitors, and their bar and restaurant is also fully open to the public. Down Royal is known as Lisburn’s family golf facility and offers golf to everyone without having to worry about membership.

There are numerous offers on all 3 courses which can be seen on the Down Royal website www.downroyalpark.com
