Conor has three points to spare

The winner with 44 points was Conor Haddock, he had a front nine of 22 points with six pars and three single bogeys. He also had 22 points on his back nine which started badly with a triple bogey at the 11th hole, but settled with five pars to win by three points.

In second place was David Carville with 41 points. He had a front nine of 21 points which included five pars and four single bogeys. He carded 20 points on the back nine with one no-score, five pars and three bogeys.

In third place was Colin Thompson with a level par round for 41 points. He had a front nine of 34 with three birdies, four pars and two bogeys. His back nine contained one birdie, two bogeys and six pars for a solid round of golf.

The gross prize was picked up by Ethan Headley with a one over gross 73, he had front nine of 36 with one birdie, six pars and two bogeys. His back nine of 37 had two birdies, five pars and two bogeys for a another gross prize.

Fourth place went to Jack Lagan with 40 points. He had 20 points on each nine with one birdie, three double bogeys, eight pars and six bogeys.

Fifth was David Cunningham with another 40 points, he had 22 points on his front nine and 18th points on his back nine with the highlights being one birdie at the 9th and seven pars.

The senior prize went to Eamon Mc Conaghy with 38 points. The junior prizes went to 1st Nathan Thomson 38 pts, 2nd Desmond Madden 34 pts.

Section prizes: 0-12 James Noble 39 pts; 13-18 Steven McEvoy 38 pts; 19-28 Thomas Marley 39 pts. The mid-week sweep winner was Nathan Thomson with 41 pts.

The Seniors enjoyed their latest outing at Kilkeel last week, and found the course very demanding, as indeed did the other competing clubs.

Although the weather was kind, Kilkeel is renowned for some difficult holes, and the scores reflected this.

Best for the locals was the ever-reliable Brian Brady and his partner John Clarke with 36 points, closely followed by two 34’s from Tom Feehan (making his senior debut) and Neil Walker, and the combination of Joe Kelly and ex-captain Frank Gallagher.

While the total of 104 may appear disappointing it was fifth best on the day and moved the boys up to fifth place in the table.

With only two fixtures left there are hopes to get into the top four.
