GOLF: It's a family affair at Bushfoot

William had thirty-nine points playing off thirteen and Lennie, playing off eight, had thirty-eight points. In Division Two Peter Carson (18) was the winner with a fine score of 42 points with William Creighton (23) runner up on 39 points. On Sunday in week seven of the Fleming Cup in form Mark Crooks (5) took the honours with 42 points from Gilbert Bowman (21) with 41 points.

At Royal Portrush on Saturday the winner of the PGA Tankard was Eamon Hughes with 41 points from Tony Martin with 40 points who pipped Gary McCrudden into third spot on a countback. The gross prize was won by Gary Simpson with 75.

There was a stableford competition at Portstewart on Saturday over sixteen holes and in first place was Derek Browne (26) with a great score of 38 points. P Babbington (11) was runner up with 37 points David Avery (12) with 36 points and John Taylor (5) with 35 points were third and fourth respectively.

At Rathmore on Sunday it as the continuation of the Sunday Sweep and winter league played over fifteen holes. Mark McClelland (4) was the winner with a magnificent 36 points. After ten holes Mark was actually five under par. George McDowell (18) took second spot with 35 points from Gareth McLaughlin (11) with 34 points.

Three other scores to mention are Jonathan Hutchinson, Clive Shorter and Paul Elliott all with 33 points. The gross was won by Chris Dunbar with 59. In the winter league, it is Team Six with 250 points leading from Team Two with 248 points and Team Nine with 238 points.

The Winter League at Castlerock was postponed due to the death of a club member.
