Sammy, who has been the man in the middle for more than four decades, was presented with a gift by Ballymoney’s motor cycle ace William Dunlop at half time in the LMA knock out cup final between Joey’s Bar and Dunseverick at Mosside last Wednesday night.

Tournament organiser, Tommy Doherty, said Sammy had been a great supporter of the LMA league.

“He has been with us for the past 24 years always ready and available to help out. We greatly appreciate all he has done to help the event keep going all these years,” Tommy said.

A recent illness from which Sammy has fully recovered helped persuade the Mosside man that it was time to quit although he’s says he’ll perhaps take charge of a junior game or two in the future.

Sammy’s contribution to junior soccer in the area has been immense and many wish him all the best in the future.
