Larne boss brings in two more new faces

“It’s great and I can’t wait for the season to start – even though there’s a lot of hard work to be done before the kick-off in August,” says Kincaid, who has welcomed aboard a couple of experienced recruits from Ballyclare Comrades.

“They are both junior internationals and in their early 20s and they can each play wide, not to mention being very skilful players, of course.

“Scott Irvine will probably be a familiar face to most of the supporters as he’s a Greenisland lad, while Andrew Simms was captain of the Comrades team. I’m delighted they have signed for us and I believed they will be of huge benefit to the squad.

“If I don’t sign any more players between now and the start of the season, I’ll be very happy with the panel because there’s going to be plenty of competition for places in just about every position.

“However, if somebody becomes available who I think will offer something to the Larne squad then I will do whatever I can to bring them into the fold.

“The first pre-season friendly is not until July 7 when we are at home to Glenavon but we got back to training on Saturday and I was delighted to have 29 players there, some of them second-teamers.

“Davy Henry and Brian McClean weren’t available while Niall McAllister is still pestered by a groin injury, but otherwise it was more or less everybody in the panel.

Larne were due to train on Tuesday evening and again tonight (Thursday). “I’ll take them down to Tyrella Beach on Saturday for a tough little session,” added Kincaid.

“Something I’d like people to be aware of is a match at Inver Park on Saturday, July 21. I was talking to Raymond Burke about this and I think it’ll be a great idea. We’re going to play the Larne team against a supporters’ team managed by Paul Carland - thirty minutes each way.

“It’ll be a great chance for the fans to interact with the players and meet the new faces and it should be a fun day for all concerned. The supporters club are charging a £10 to anybody who wishes to play – and they should indicate their intention to do so by contacting Paul,” he said.
