Hamilton hits in equaliser to secure Dollingstown draw

Dollingstown dropped points for the first time in this season’s Mid-Ulster Intermediate League Section A campaign - but manager Gary Duke claimed satisfaction at a point from the road trip.

Fixtures between the defending champions and Tandragee Rovers have provided some of the main talking points in recent seasons. Last weekend’s clash at Madden Road proved competitive but with just a goal apiece at the close of play.

Dollingstown entered the match aiming to extend a perfect league record to 11 but pursuit of another championship - and with it the chance for Irish League acceptance - suffered a setback. However, Duke reflected on the away test as another point towards progress.

“If we can win at home and avoid defeat on the road that would be ideal,” said Duke. “With that in mind, we left happy enough with the draw.

“Overall, I felt we dominated possession and should have won it, with Aaron Duke hitting the bar before Andy Hamilton levelled.

“Tandragee took the lead off a mix-up that led to a deflection.”
