And most of the new additions to the expanded first team squad for the promotion bid in 2013-14 will be revealed in the next week or so, says Colin Telford.

The assistant manager added: “I would like to think that we will have some forms signed by the end of the week and, certainly within the next seven or 10 days, I imagine that there will be revelations regarding the new signings.

“We have been looking for experienced players, guys with good pedigree, who have been round the block a few times and can bring something positive and beneficial to the squad.”

Telford added: “It’s no secret that we want a few wide players, even though we have already got some. It’s just that we need cover in case one or two of the current guys get injured. But, realistically, the fact is that we want to double up in all positions so that we have good cover everywhere, which is why we are aiming for a squad of around 22 players – all of them of similar ability and earning much the same.”

Telford reiterated managed Michael Hughes’s message that the club is not out for success at any cost. “Some people maybe got the notion that Carrick Rangers were trying to buy success. However, perhaps the most important aspect of this club is that it is being run correctly.

“Good housekeeping is a crucial ingredient. The foundation will be that players are here because they want to play for Carrick Rangers.”
