Bingham keen to avoid more final heartache
He was part of the Slane side that lost their last Alan Wilson Cup final appearance and the influential midfielder is desperate not to be left with another broken heart this time around.
“When I rejoined Moneyslane, I said I wanted to win trophies so this is what I have been looking forward to,” he told the ‘LEADER.’

Hide Ad“We have been close in the league the last few years but came up short and also got to this final two years ago but lost on penalties.
“I don’t want a repeat of that and would love to be lifting the trophy for the club and supporters on Friday.”
Slane go into their crunch season finale on the back of a great run of form.
Just one solitary defeat marrs and otherwise perfect record in their last nine outings.

Hide AdThat sequence even includes a 12-0 victory over Portadown side Seagoe.
“The mood in the squad is fantastic,” said skipper Bingham. “We are well aware of the threat that Bourneview pose but with our record in the last rounds of the cup and in the league we are in positive mood.
“We know the ability we have in the changing room and it’s now just about making sure we focus on the game.”
This Cup final will be the first Slane have reached under the stewardship of current boss David Johnstone.

Hide AdHis skipper was full of praise for the chief, who he is hoping will lay the foundations for a victorious final appearance.
“DJ brings such professionalism to the club,” said Bingham.
“From training methods right thought to preparation on match day, he makes sure everything is done well.
“He is always prepared and makes sure everyone knows what they are expected to do.
“He also has kept faith and belief in the players, even during the bad spell that we have come through.

Hide Ad“I think that has shown in our performances in the last few weeks where he has got the best out of us on a consistent basis.
“There is now one game left this season and I know he will be well prepared.
“DJ will give us the best chance to go and win it.”
