Berthas claim cup win as they see off Glebe OB

Berthas FC took the final honours of the season on Friday night with victory over Glebe Rangers Old Boys in their Knockout Cup game at Mullaghacall, Portstewart.

A Lee Biggart brace had put Chris Patterson’s side in control, but the Glebe hit back through Paul Gaston.

Berthas suffered a big blow minutes later when MacAulay was sent off for denying a goal scoring opportunity. Glebe dominated the remaining 20 minutes and got back on level terms when Nicholl prodded home Gaston’s knock down.

It went on to the dreaded penalty shootout and it was Berthas who held their nerve to win 4-2 as Ridgell to fired home the winning penalty to win Berthas the trophy.

On Saturday the league held its annual presentation of awards in Coleraine FC Social Club.

Not long until it all starts again the AGM scheduled for Monday 2nd June at 7.30pm at the Railway Arms.

Extra time was a bit slower with Elder pulling off a top save to deny Steele and Allen saving from McGarvey at the other end.
