Another stalemate for Distillery as McBride impresses yet again

Lisburn Distillery picked up their seventh draw in twelve league matches, coming away from Donegal Celtic with a 1-1 result.

They had teenage goalkeeper Ryan McBride to thank after he made a string of late saves to keep his side in the game.

The home side could have been ahead on 17 minutes as the ball fell to Pierce Devine but his blistering shot flew over the bar without troubling young Distillery keeper McBride.

Tommy Kincaid’s team took the lead on 26 minutes as Kingsberry’s cross found Glen Upton, his shot deflecting off Aiden Burns to deceive McErlean before nestling into the bottom corner.

Distillery were in control of the game although Donegal Celtic did come close on 38 minutes when Joe Todd’s cross found Aiden Templeton. His effort was somehow kept out by the in-form McBride.

The relief at not conceding for the visitors was, however, to be only temporary as Celtic were level a minute later. Burns’ shot was cleared off the line by Darren Nixon but the ball then fell kindly for Daniel Wallace who made the most to level the game.

DC dominated after the break but Wright fired wide and McBride made a good stop to deny a free-kick.

Kevin Hughes must have thought he had netted a winner for the home side on 73 minutes when he got through one on one but he blasted his shot wildly over the bar.

McBride then kept Distillery’s hopes alive yet again as he did well to punch clear with Templeton waiting to head home before also making a smart stop on Connor Glenholmes’ drive.
