Derriaghy put plans in place for new season

WITH the start of the 2013 season just weeks away Derriaghy Cricket Club have been busy putting plans in place for both their youth and senior sections.

This year will see all youth coaching move to a Monday evening with primary school pupils from seven years old upwards training from 5.45-7pm and then from 7-8.30pm there will be sessions for both U13s and U15s.

All these sessions will be lead by the clubs eight qualified coaches. During the winter three players obtained their ECB level 1 award and Scott Hughes has advanced onto the level two course.

The club will again be holding a registration evening for all youth members and this will take place from 6.30pm on Monday April 15.

Forms and registration fees, which remain at £25, will be collected on the night. The first outdoor training for all age groups will begin the following Monday, April 22. Existing and any new members will be made very welcome.

The club’s senior teams have also changed their training days for 2013. Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 6.30pm will be the times for all players over 15 and these are planned to commence on April 9. The First XI have already confirmed two pre season friendlies - away to Waringstown on Sunday April 14 and at Muckamore on Saturday April 20.
