Derriaghy Thirds begin with fine away victory

The Derriaghy Thirds got their league programme underway on Saturday as they recorded a fine 7 wicket win away at CIYMS IV.

The home side batted first and only managed to make 96 all out, due mainly to fine bowling spells from Simon Gilmore (3 for 6) and Daniel Ballantyne (3 for 21).

In reply the Thirds got home with 16 overs to spare with Robert Cumins top scoring with 45 while Nathan Adams hit a useful 23 not out.

Like their 1st team counterparts the Thirds scheduled league game on Monday also fell foul of the weather.

This week the Seconds are in action at Stormont against Civil Service North.
