Academy and Larne forced to wait for Cup opener

ACADEMY Cricket Club’s quest for a fourth consecutive Junior Cup triumph had to be put on hold at the weekend owing to the inclement weather.

Sandy Bay didn’t live up to its name on Saturday afternoon following early-morning rain. So, the first-round clash with Larne had to be postponed.

It has been rescheduled for Sunday in Larne, but on Saturday afternoon the sides will meet in a Senior League Section 2 fixture.

Commenting, Academy secretary/scorer, Jack Quinn, said: “The lads will be fed up looking at each other with the back-to-back clashes coming within 24 hours of each other, but I hope that our big guns will keep their powder dry for the cup tie on Sunday.”
