Chilly course conditions are snow problem for the in-form Peter Hillen
The golf course was covered in snow for most of the week and the prospect of playing on Saturday seemed remote but that didn’t worry Peter Hillen.
Thankfully the snow receded, leaving enough green grass for the game to be played. It was still bitterly cold and the hardy souls who ventured out have to be admired.

Hide AdPeter Hillen thought he might slip into the best senior category with his 33 points and he was highly delighted to learn that he had actually done enough to be named the overall winner.
Peter plays with Rory Madeley, Jonathan Shannon and Matthew Mallon, all top ranking players. They certainly seem to motivate Peter to play golf at the highest level. His 33 points last Saturday was a really good score.
Peter had a wonderful season in 2014 and he seems determined to achieve something similar this year.

MONDAY 26TH JANUARY
Albert Morrison is a lovely gentleman and he is also a very enthusiastic golfer. He loves the weekly sweeps and very seldom misses one. The snow, rain, sleet, cold or gales would not deter Albert.

It was a good day all round.

SUNDAY 25TH JANUARY
The Sunday Sweep is the most competitive competition of the week. Played over nine holes, it often ends up in a photo finish.
This was one of those days, as Eamon Galloway needed countback to put himself in front of Fergie Cosgrove and Ken Stevenson.
Fergie went home very happy, despite finishing second. That was because he shared a sizeable 2’s pot with Hugo Downey.
1st- Eamon Galloway (18) Nett 31
2nd- Fergie cosgrove (14) Nett 31
