Battling Greenisland begin campaign with win
Greenisland Ladies 2nd XI 2
GREENISLAND 2nd XI opened the 2010/2011 season on with a confidence boosting away win against a very strong Lurgan side in Junior 1 of the Ulster Women's Hockey league.
With several changes to Greenisland’s side since last season, the newly-formed team performed well to keep their focus and come away with a win.

Lurgan then threw everything they had at equalising and the constant pressure paid off. A quick break and a tired Greenisland defence meant the score was brought to 1-1 in the 20th minute. On the stroke of half-time Eileen Reynolds found the back of the net from another penalty corner to take Greenisland 2-1 up.
In the second half keeper Leah Crooks, who was player of the match, made a string of fantastic and crucial saves and the entire side battled hard to take three points.
