Battling display from young Sean Treacy’s side

Seán Treacy’s Under 12 hurlers travelled to South Armagh last Thursday for their second match in the county Armagh League.

Although the boys suffered a defeat of 3-8 to 5-10, they played admirably throughout the sixty minutes of play.

Credit goes to both sets of players for a very entertaining game. Persistent rain over the days previous to the match and indeed the day of it meant the ground was particularly heavy underfoot.

Despite that, there were 26 shots on target, many of which would have made the senior players proud to have scored them.

Battles were both won and lost on the pitch; some resembled a David and Goliath encounter with Lurgan parents heard vowing to pump their sons full of extra fruit and vegetables in an effort to boost their height before the next league game.

Every match the boys play sees them perfect the skills previously drilled.

Hopefully their next game against St Mochuas of Derrynoose on May 22 will result in a win.

Training continues on Friday nights for Under 6s and Under 8s at 6.30pm and 7.30pm for Under 10s and 12s at the hurling pitch on the North Circular Road. New members are always welcome.
