Barnes captures three Track National Titles

East Tyrone’s cyclist Harvey Barnes continued his run of good form with a triple Gold Medal haul at last weekend’s National Under 16 Track Championships held at the Sundrive Road Stadium in Dublin.

Harvey had a clean sweep of titles winning the 500 Metre Time Trial, the 8 lap Scratch Race and the Sprint.

East Tyrone Junior rider Harry McComb was also in the medals claiming the Silver in the Ulster 25 Mile Junior Time Trial Championships promoted by the Bann Valley Club.

The annual Ernie Magwood Memorial Open 10 Mile Time Trial takes place this Sunday 27th July on the Omagh Road.

A big entry is anticipated for the event held in memory of the late East Tyrone Club stalwart who passed away in November 2010.

Sign on is at Meteor Electrical on the main Cookstown- Omagh Road.

Sign on opens at 9am and closes at 9.45. First rider off at 10am.

There is over a £200 prize fund available for the following categories.

1st, 2nd, 3rd Fastest. First Junior, First Road Bike, First Lady, First ETCC Member and First Under16.

Meanwhile the race action this Thursday 24th July is Round Five of the Somerville Body Repairs TT League which is the Bob Cummings Cup Hilly Event on the Cookstown to Lough Fea and back course, starting on the Lissan Road at 7.30pm.
