Agnew, McKelvey and Mairs help ‘Clare see off Latharna

Joe Gribben, Alphonsus McIlwaine, Dean McDonagh, Ciaran O’Toole and Bertie Pill were all on target for the Saints.

Latharna are now in second place despite losing 3-2 to Ballyclare GC A. Raymond Weir and Neil McFayden got the Point Street men off to a good start, taking the first two frames before Darren Agnew, Neil McKelvey and Trevor Mairs secured the win for the golfers.

Linfield now move into third place with their tenth win of the campaign, this time beating St John’s 3-2. Billy Parke, Gary Rutherford (29,23) and Raymond Forsythe were all on target with Alex Robertson. Jim Parke won for the visitors.

Ballylumford recorded the result of the week, beating Carrick GC ‘A’ 3-2. James Magill, Davy Irwin and Darren McNeill (24) won their games for the hosts, with G Baker and Davy Wright responding for the Carrick men.

Greenbank A are still only four points off the lead despite a 3-2 defeat at Ballyclare Old Boys. Robert Kinnon, Wayne Harper and Boydie Hawkins won their frames, with John Hogg and Noel Vennard winning for the host team.

Bottom side Legion are still struggling to find form after a 4-1 defeat against The Point. Graham Ferguson, Gary McNeill, Eddie Carson and Steven Girvan took the frames for the Point, with W. Irvine providing Legion’s response.

Carrick GC ‘B’ are now in ninth place with a fine 4-1 win over Ballyclare Golf Club B. Jim Greene, Glen Gibney, Harry Wade and Mick Jones recorded successes, with Ian Wallace winning for the golfers.
