Woman airlifted in Ballycastle rescue

A 21 year old female has been rescued from Churchfield Road, Ballycastle this morning (Thursday 24th July) following a report of a person in distress in the Fairhead area.

Shortly after 2am, it was reported that a female had gone missing in the area and there were concerns for her safety. Police, along with local Coastguard were deployed to assist with the safe resolution of the incident.

The coastguard were tasked to assist in the search for the missing woman about 0410 Hrs and in turn tasked Portrush All weather Lifeboat and a Irish Coastguard Helicopter form Dublin.

PSNI and Coastguard teams from Coleraine and Ballycastle carried out ground searches before the missing woman was found by Rescue 116 SAR Helicopter from Dublin. She was airlifed to a local hospital for treatment following the incident.

A PSNI spokesman said: “The woman is in a stable condition in hospital.”
