Vandals wreck CCTV camera

VANDALS have caused thousands of pounds worth of damage to a CCTV camera in Glenavy.

The camera was pulled off its pole last week and the electrics were then set on fire in the incident at the Lisburn Road-Airport Road junction in Glenavy.

An identical incident also occurred on the Falls Road in Belfast.

Police believe that it occurred sometime between 11.30pm on Thursday and 1pm on Friday.

The police say they believe between £10,000 and £22,000 worth of damage was caused to both cameras.

They are keen to speak to the occupants of a dark coloured Audi that was seen in the Lisburn area shortly after the incident.

They are also keen to speak to anyone with any information or who may have seen anything suspicious in the area on 0845-6008000 or ring the Crimestoppers number which is 0800-555111.
