Tributes paid to late David McClarty
Tributes have been paid to the late Independent East Londonderry MLA David McClarty, who has sadly died.
The 63-year-old father of two had been battling lymphoma for some time.
Former party colleague and UUP chairman Reg Empey said: “At all times David was a real gentleman in politics; he managed to combine sincere beliefs with a great sense of humour and was slow to make political enemies, which says a lot about him.”
Politicians from across the divide were unanimous in describing the well-liked former UUP man as a ‘gentleman.’
