SDLP Foyleside candidate Rory Farrell says Londonderry’s rising unemployment figures demonstrate a need for measures to stimulate growth here.
He referred to the latest data showing 8.6 per cent of the city’s working age population were claiming benefits in February.
He said: “While the trend across the North is downwards, the figures in Derry continue to spiral out of control. The Sinn Féin/DUP-controlled Executive needs to tackle this growing issue by introducing innovative solutions that will reduce unemployment.”
