Tyrone’s Tiernan McCann has ban rescinded ahead of Kerry clash

McCann’s case was heard at a meeting of the GAA’s Central Hearings Committee last night, Wednesday.

The Red Hands player had been charged with “misconduct that is considered to have discredited the association”.

The Killyclogher player will now be free to play in Sunday’s All-Ireland semi-final against Kerry in Dublin.

The proposed suspension had been criticised as excessive by Tyrone supporters and others due to simulation being an existing offence that only warrants a yellow card under GAA rules.

McCann’s team-mate Conor Meyler also had the black card he picked up in the Monaghan game rescinded last night.

Last week, Tyrone manager Mickey Harte admitted that McCann would “wish to have responded differently” to Hughes’s action, but also defended the player as “a fine young man”.
