Travel chaos for commuters

There was chaos for passengers travelling to Lisburn on Wednesday morning (December 2).

A “major signalling failure” on the railway line between Portadown and Lisburn caused severe disruption for commuters.

Bus substitutions were put in place for passengers on affected trains, including the cross-border Enterprise service between Belfast and Dublin.

A Translink spokesperson said it was a “major signalling failure” and apologised for the inconvenience caused. She also urged passengers to make alternative travel arrangements,

Meanwhile there were also problems for motorists on the M1 motorway on Wednesday morning,

There were rush hour delays after traffic signals at the junction nine off-slip at Moira stopped working.
