“It has been a real honour and privilege for me to serve the people of Mid Ulster,” said the DUP councillor.

“This last year has been a very busy year but one I have thoroughly enjoyed. I have met thousands of people throughout my travels from Fivemiletown to Swatragh, all of whom have been so welcoming and a joy to meet and talk to. I hope the people of Mid Ulster have found the Deputy Chair’s office has been at the heart of the whole community.

“The first year of Mid Ulster District Council has been a very challenging one, as we set up new procedures and policies while ensuring front line services continued to be delivered. As new and increased powers have now transferred from Stormont, such as planning and economic development, we have more opportunities to shape our local community and business environment. Good progress has been made in producing our economic and community plans. Now we must focus on delivery.

“I wouldn’t have been able to carry out my duties if it wasn’t for the great support network I have had around me, my constituents, my party, the staff of Mid Ulster District Council, and my husband and family. I thank them all for their support.

“Finally but certainly not least can I thank you and your newspaper for all the press releases and pictures you have printed on my behalf. It has enabled the council to get their message out to your readers.

“As another year begins in Mid Ulster District Council I want to wish the new Chair and Deputy Chair every success as they undertake their new roles. As the people of Swatragh called me “the wee girl from Tyrone” it’s time for me to face new challenges and look forward to continuing to work for the people of Dungannon DEA and wider Mid Ulster area.”
