Solemn blessing service and rededication of chapel organ

On Friday November 21 the newly refurbished organ at St Patrick’s Chapel in Lisburn will be rededicated during a special service.

Said to now be one of the finest organs in Europe, the organ will be rededicated by Parish Priest Father Dermot McCaughan.

Following the solemn blessing there will be a very special musical celebration, which will feature a host of special guests, as well as choirs from churches and community groups in Lisburn.

The concert will be compered by UTV’s Frank Mitchell and musical guests will include the singing priest Father Liam Lawton from Kildare and world renowned French organist Jean-Paul Lecot.

Jean_Paul Lecot is French composer, organist and clavecinist, and is the Maître de chapelle of the Lourdes Sanctuary.

Father Liam Lawton is a priest in the Diocese of Kildare & Leighlin South of Dublin and he. currently holds the position of Director of Sacred Music in his Diocese.

He was discovered by EMI in 2004 and he released his debut album in Ireland ‘Another World’ later that year.

This album achieved double platinum status and was followed by his second album Time which also was hugely successful. Time was recorded with the National Philharmonic Orchestra in the city of Prague.

He has recorded 14 collections to date with a number of them achieving Platinum status.

The Lisburn Community Choir will also be performing and the choir of St Patrick’s will be joined by members of other church choirs from throughout Lisburn.

Schola Cantorum, which is made up of forty boy choristers, from St Peter’s in Belfast will be singing, as will Capella, the chamber choir from Wallace High School.

Parish Priest Father McCaughan said he was very much looking forward to welcoming the whole Lisburn community to St Patrick’s.

“This will be a wonderful evening and the response so far has been fantastic,” he said. “The arrangements have certainly been met with great enthusiasm.”

The solemn blessing and rededication will begin at 7pm sharp and will be followed by the musical celebration.

There are still a limited number of tickets available, priced £5. Proceeds to the St Vincent De Paul Christmas Appeal.
