The couple are officially engaged and have separately announced the development in their relationship using the social media network, Twitter.

Cox is the former Friends star ‘Monica’ and star of film Cougar Town.

Apparently they simultaneously posted the identical photograph of their engagement using the captions “I’m engaged to him” and “I’m engaged to her,” respectively.

The announcement follows sightings of Cox wearing a diamond ring on her engagement finger at the premiere of Just Before I Go back in April.

The two met through mutual friend Ed Sheeran last year and have been living together.

Ms Cox, who recently turned 50, is 13 years senior to her guitarist fiance, and was divorced from ex-husband David Arquette in May last year after almost 14 years of marriage.

Arquette and Cox have a 10-year-old daughter, Coco.
