Shirley Ann goes over the edge for charity

The event attracted people for all kinds of reasons; some were abseil enthusiasts, for some it was their first ever abseil, others took up the challenge to conquer their fear of heights.

Many were accompanied by friends and family who cheered them on whilst basking in the warm sunshine.

Following her descent, Shirley Ann said: “The abseil was brilliant. I really enjoyed it and it was a fun way to raise money to help the work of The Cedar Foundation.”

More than 6,500 was raised to help Cedar’s work with children and adults with disabilities throughout Northern Ireland.

Christine Tweedie, Cedar's Fundraising Co-ordinator, commented: “We are really grateful to everyone who came along to take part and raise so much money for our work.

“Anyone who missed this event can take part in our next fundraising challenge - a freefall indoor abseil at the Storm Cinema at the Odyssey Pavilion, Belfast in November.”
