The NW Regional Science Park will have flexible office facilities to suit operations from a single-person start-up, to large companies looking for an inspiring new space to share with like-minded businesses. In addition it will roll out the successful programmes being run in the Science Park in Belfast, providing entrepreneurial mentoring and business training for small start-ups, pitch training for bigger companies seeking investment and access to high quality angel investor networks, and will also bring the benefits of NISP’s tight networks with universities, R&D institutions across the world and particularly in Silicon Valley.

The next phase of development will see investment at Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT) which will broaden these links even further into the cross-border region.

Welcoming the announcement SDLP Foyle MP Mark Durkan has welcomed the news that 8over8 are to be the anchor tenants at the new North West Regional Science Park at Fort George in Derry and that the software company will be increasing their workforce by 10 people in the process.

“I am also very impressed by the scale of this exciting new project and the opportunities that will become available when the Science Park opens in the summer. 8over8 is a very successful indigenous firm whose knowledge-driven export model is one which should be encouraged and emulated,” he said.

“8over8 are succeeding because of the aptitude and attitude of its workforce as well as the quality of its management. Their success is evidence that Derry is a good place for business and that it can be a great base for growing in the global market.”
