Road races help raise funds for Royal Maternity Hospital

LOCAL man, Denis McMichael, has used the Armoy Road Races to raise money for a deserving medical cause.

Last August's event in the village gave Denis the opportunity to provide a car park for which he charged a modest sum.

The money raised - 430 - was given to the Regional Neo Natal Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Maternity Hospital, Belfast.

The background to the fund-raising was that twins Eoghan and Ryan O'Brien were born three months prematurely at The Royal weighing 1lb 3oz and 2lb 3 oz respectively.

They spent the early months of their life in the Regional Neo Natal Intensive Care Unit at the hospital.

There were many complications with the boy during their time at the Unit and the family are very grateful to all the staff who looked after them throughout their stay.

Denis donated the funds raised to the RNNICU. The family would like to thank Denis for raising the money.
