Reel chance to follow Carrick man’s footsteps

A FILM and television festival aimed at young people is set to celebrate its 21st anniversary in Belfast this year.

The Cinemagic International Film and Television Festival, in which Carrick man Paul Gilmore was awarded most promising presenter in 2006, will run from November 16 - December 2.

Coca-Cola HBC Northern Ireland is entering its fifth year as title sponsor of the festival, and has been working in partnership with Cinemagic on various projects and fundraising initiatives.

Each year the partnership has delivered inspirational events for young people, unlocking their creative potential and helping them take their first steps into the film and television industry, whilst building confidence and self-esteem.

“This year’s 21st anniversary festival will once again provide young people like Paul with the opportunity to gain exciting and practical experience in many arts based disciplines, using the magic of film and moving images to inspire and fuel creativity,” said Joan Burney, Cinemagic Chief Executive.

Highlights of the festival will include the ever popular Young Filmmaker Competition, Cinemagic Stars, and the Talent Lab.

The festival finishes on December 2 with the Cinemagic Gala Awards at Belfast City Hall, where the winning films of the festival will be announced and young filmmakers and new talent awarded.
